Darebin Bicycle User Group is one of Melbourne's largest and most active cycling groups.

Achievements

Darebin BUG is proud to have had a role in the following improvements to the local cycling network:

  • realignment of pathway on St Georges Rd (Northcote/Thornbury/Preston)
  • commencement of northern extension of St Georges Rd pathway (Preston)
  • installation of bicycle parking at AMES (Preston), Cedars Bakery (Preston), SPAN Community House (Preston) and Officeworks (Preston)
  • completion of work on bicycle lanes in Dundas St (Preston)
  • completion of northern extension of Darebin Trail from Rathcown Rd to Gronn St (Reservoir)
  • commencement of work on bicycle lanes in Cramer St and Gower St (Preston)
  • commencement of major works (including land acquisition and bridge under Darebin Rd) to address the missing link in the Darebin Trail near Darebin Rd (Northcote)
  • bicycle lanes in Westgarth St (Northcote)
  • bicycle lanes in Dennis St (Northcote)
  • plans for bicycle lanes in Hughes Parade and Botha Avenue (Reservoir)
  • action plan for treatment of dangerous bluestone surfaces
  • plans for secure bicycle parking at Fairfield railway station
